you know what I see when I see this image; the idea that being poor makes you a bad parent. the idea that being stressed makes you a bad parent! being fat makes you a bad parent!

it’s also a good example of the ongoing erasure of poor, stressed, conventionally unattractive queer parents. It’s rather like all those posts about how it’s so sad that gay people can’t get married when dumb teenage whores can have as many kids as they want! as if there are no queer parents who were formerly in heterosexual relationships, or who became pregnant/fathered kids as teenagers, or who depend on welfare, or who are otherwise indistinguishable from our stereotypes of inappropriate parents. Nope, gay parents are well-dressed, well-educated, affluent, white, almost always male and cisgendered, and their carefully planned children are their well-behaved clones. Progressive!
