thank you for this gift palilicium
I have auburn hair and freckles, and I have to say that it was never an issue[…].
I mean, I am well aware that my experience is not universal, and I have no doubts that other redheads have been tormented. And I suppose there are subtler forms of insults — I’m very pale and a lot of the time, tan girls would say, “Ugh, I’m looking so pale” as though that were the worst thing ever.

There’s also a homophobic quality to the anti-ginger prejudice in the UK. See, in rhyming slang, “ginger” is short for “ginger beer”, which rhymes with “queer”. So when a man is “accused” of being a ginger, there’s also an overtone of “and probably a fag too.”
I was just over at Atheist Media Blog, and their top story yesterday is Australian PM Julia Gillard Does Not Believe in God (a news item is linked to: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/06/29/2…)
And since she is a redhead, I can’t help but wonder if there is a connection between the anti-cell whilst driving campaign and the fact that she’s campaigning to keep her job.
I personally think [the oppression of redheads is] because we aren’t technically a minority in terms of race, sexuality or gender therefore it is within PC norms to pick on us.
the only natural redhead I knew prior to college also had dark olive skin and dark brown eyes (he was Latino), so I am amused that this red-haired oppression rhetoric seems to rely on the assumption that all natural redheads are white, with gleaming porcelain skin. Perhaps I’m just brunettesplaining, though.
these people need to check their monochromatic hair privilege, tbh TRUE FACE OF THE OPPRESSED
Hahaha yeah this is the post I was talking about here and here BRUNETTE PRIVILEGE!
Beer rhymes with queer. So it’s homophobic. Fuck you, CaitieCat.
