So I’m engaged in one of my favorite time-killing activities, i.e., reading beauty blogs written by wealthy, unintentionally pompous older white ladies, because it allows me to lust over high-end beauty products while simultaneously scorning their actual target market. Anyway, one of them posted a totally on-point complaint about how Tom Ford is up his own ass and the names he gives a lot of products in his overpriced beauty line are try-hard and occasionally straight-up misogynistic, although of course she put it much more nicely. The comments to her post includes the following discussion:

As long as we are being honest about Tom Ford I have this to say…. I find him to be incredibly handsome. I also know that he is a gay man. So why does he often show up in ads with equally good-looking women? It seems dishonest to me and frankly “weird”. I think I’m no longer impressed with him.

I think the collection is exquisite. It includes another eye quad called Enchanted, as well as a plum creme shadow and a gorgeous blush. I think the models in his makeup ads are just as beautiful as his products. And I am glad that he is gay because I support gay rights.

I have immediately developed loyalty to the HEB store brand nail polish Orchid

They have shade names like “Sugar and Spice and Nothing Nice”, “Wine-O”, and my personal favorite, “I Met Him In Prism”.

I bought a light purple metallic with holographic glitter called “It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time”, which I am declaring official nail polish of my life

i’m aromantic

in that i have no interest in imagining an idealized European past that never existed

also the Romantischestrasse leaves me cold, not sure why so many tourists are into it

That awkward moment when the OP has no idea what aromanticism actually is.

Remember ya’ll. Romantic only ever applied to white people. What a history fail.

but fiish, don’t you realize that there’s only one true legitimate legal academic dictionary definition for the entire concept of ‘romance’???

lol um

THE WHOLE POINT of that “joke” was that the term “romance” and “romantic” has meant some very different things over the centuries?  as a way to highlight how the way ‘aromantics’ use it is non-sensical b/c y’all can’t even agree on what romance is or even define it well so I took the definition of “romance” that was FURTHEST from the way we typically think of it because haha i thought it was kinda funny, not because i was fucking saying that the concept of love/partner romance ONLY APPLIED TO WHITE PEOPLE YOU DUMB FUCKS OH MY GOD

but what i was referring to specifically was this

hth

and I was specifically highlighting that there are MANY definitions of the word Romance/Romantic not that there’s ONE ACADEMIC DICTIONARY DEFINITION

hence this

lol “history fail” also like context fail basic understanding of words fail and reading comprehension fail not to mention social justice flailing fail and obnoxious use of the word “fail” fail

omg girl, my deepest sympathies

Or should I be saying like, “this!” and “fail!” or some unholy combination like “this awkward moment when asexuals failed at everything again”

We have gotten to a point where people starting invoking white people as a way to attack messages they have no other way of attacking, even where race had nothing to fucking do with it whatsoever

gj turning racial analysis into just another petty kneejerk method to avoid self-examination and critical thinking, you angry, most likely white dinguses

“I thought reaching into the pockets of U.S. smartphone users and annoying them into drone-consciousness could be an interesting way to surface the conversation a bit more.” —

Apple Rejects App That Tracks U.S. Drone Strikes.

Here’s an app that should be in every single American’s phone so that there is an awakening in the collective conscience of the country. Too bad Apple rejected it. Why? Because it lacks the basic guts to simply update you on American foreign policy in “third world” countries.

An update every single time a US drone strike kills someone in Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia and Afghanistan.

(via mehreenkasana)

this is a really interesting concept.  i’m not like 100% anti-drone but i agree with Rachel Maddow’s premise (from her book “Drift” which is excellent) that US civilians have gotten further and further away from having a connection to our military which affects how we interact with or just plain don’t think about the wars and conflicts the U.S. is in and drone technology just greats an even bigger divide there.

Why shouldn’t people get a day of appreciation for being a decent human being. Think about it, none of you complain about gay pride days and what’s that? A day of appreciation for simply being born a certain way. I know plenty of gay people who are complete arseholes and hetrophobes and they still get to celebrate being a gay bigoted asshole at pride and people see that as ok. Whereas people want some acknowledgement to say “hey, we’re not all bad, see?” and people all start complaining.

I would also like to point out that I do like women so this isn’t some straight girl trying to justify herself or anything

First: The first Pride was a riot. It’s a celebration of our continued existence and history against violence and hatred. Not simply about being born a certain way. Learn your own history.

Second; Heterophobia isn’t a thing. It certainly isn’t just as bad as homophobia when no one is being killed for being straight.

Third: No one should be celebrated for not hating people.
